Case 2: Sciatica, rev.
|
|
Acupuncture is able by thorough examination
of acupoints |
|
Grave Sciatica brings the depression |
|
Sciatica is a sickness of Sciatic nerve,
sensory and motor nerve. You are supposed
to have sciatica when you feel the pain and
numbness in the lower back, hip, back femur
and/or foot.
I usually know the degree of illness by the
voice on the phone for the first appointment.
Because the pain of sciatica is as severe
as to cause the depression.
Many people came for sciatica, but really
serious type was few. If you have piriformis
syndrome or a simple muscular trouble, you
will cure by a couple of treatments.
Otherwise, if you have disc protrusion, it
is more complicated. If your sciatica is
caused by vertebral column such as disc hernia,
it takes enough time to cure. |
|
Area of symptoms is important for Diagnosis |
|
Each nerve runs through its own route.
Sciatic nerve diverges from spinal cord,
separates into right and left, goes out between
fourth lumbar vertebra and sacrum, passes
under the hip, and comes to back femur and
foot.
If your pain and numbness occur all or partly
along the route, you are troubled with sciatica.
And, the peripheral nervous system disorder
occurs on one side.
If you have them on both sides, there is
a possibility of the central nervous disorder.
|
 |
 |
■ symptoms / ■ starting |
|
|
Occasionally slight numbness
occurs on both
sides when the muscles of lower
back are
hard and stiff very much.
To add supplement, one of my clients, who
had diagnosed as sciatica, actually he was
troubled by spinal canal stenosis. Now he
has become good by Acupuncture. |
|
Different where troubled and symptoms |
|
Sciatica is characterized by the source is
different from where the symptoms occurs.
For example, the Kieo Line starts from Shinjuku,
diverges in Chofu into Hachiohji and Hashimoto.
If the symptoms occurs in Nishi-Chofu, the
source may be somewhere from Shinjuku to
Nishi-Chofu, or in Yamate Line.
Therefore, I have to treat both source and
symptoms. The source is somewhere in the
route where the nerve is pressed or invaded.
To cure the source is to cure the symptoms.
And using acupoints of the leg, the source
will be cured. |
|
To examine acupoints is the most important
factor |
|
For Acupuncture treatment, the most important
factor is to examine the points to treat
minutely. Whether you cure or not depends
on it. To find acupoints is to cure a patient.
The muscles around the nerve are hard and
thick as if the damaged nerve dashes acid
over the muscles.
As I have much experience, I know the outline
by a glance. To listen what you tell me about
your symptoms is indispensable, too.
At first, by meridian treatment, I regulate
the balance, take away your tiredness, and
clean up your body.
Next, I examine your affected points. Pushing
deep into points, I find them by my feeling,
and by hearing how you feel. I must examine
one by one. It needed more than 30 minutes
when I was a beginner.
Then I stick acuneedles and burn moxa on
them. As the muscles become softer, the symptoms
fade away.
Missing the target, the treatment results
in failure. You will get no effect. |
|
Piriformis Syndrome |
|
You may have the piriformis syndrome if the
pain is not so serious. The Sciatica nerve
runs under the piriformis muscle deep in
the hip. If the muscle is stiff and hard,
the nerve become pressed and irritated. The
treatment is easy, though the piriformis
exists very deep.
I stick acuneedles direct into the muscle.
Sometimes I use Chinese needles, electric
needles or moxa-needles as the case maybe.
Moxibustion is very efficacious, too. The
multi-piling mox which burned and piled up
one over another can penetrate heat to the
roots of trouble.
It is difficult to find the stiffness in
the hip, because there are many muscles very
thick, deep and complicated. |

Overheat Moxibustion calms down severe nerves
pain |
|
A client Mr. K, aged 42, came in 1995, for
sciatica. He suffered from ache day and night
for two years. It was hard to him to work
as a construction worker. He had insomnia
for the pain.
Mr. K should come to my office twice a week.
In addition to the usual treatment, I dared
to make scars by Scarring Mox to calm down
the severe ache. I burned moxa out on the
most painful points in the leg. They are
awfully hot. But, he endured because his
ache would calm down for few days.
Scarring Mox is efficacious for such an unbearable
nervous pain, though I usually try to not
leave the marks on the skin.
Six weeks later, his pain faded
away completely.
